By pairing a traditionally shaped hitting surface with a longer handle, the Selkirk Vanguard Control Epic Paddle effortlessly balances power and control for a well-rounded all-court feel. The surprisingly poppy power found in this paddle comes from the slightly extended 5.3” octagonal handle that sits nicely in our hand and helps us create ample swing speed with both the lightweight and midweight iterations. Upon contact with the 7.8” wide T700 Raw QuadCarbon Fiber hitting surface, the ball gets compressed so that it can pop off the face with plenty of spin thanks to the rigid feel and impressive quad carbon texture.

While sneaky pop helps us steal points from our opponents, it is our controlled skill shots that were really enhanced by the Selkirk Vanguard Control Epic Paddle. Not only does the shape provide the reliably quick reload we have come to expect, and the new hitting surface brings incredible spin, but the 16mm Vanguard X5+ Honeycomb also contributes impressively. Originally developed for the Labs Project 006, this core eats up vibrations for a controllably soft feel on dinks and passes, but provides an impressive sweet spot to help us put the ball away when we have an opportunity.
